Q: What is MassNAELA's Disability Roundtable?

A: A round table has no head. Everyone who participates in a roundtable has an equal opportunity to contribute questions and answers. At MassNAELA's Disability Roundtable, attorneys and members from organizations involved in the disability community (our "Community Partners"), gather to share best practices, new ideas, and lingering questions in our shared mission to advocate for the rights of individuals living with disabilities in Massachusetts.

Q: What will the day look like? ?

A: MassNAELA's Roundtable keeps the best parts of the UnProgram – collaborative problem-solving, focused but informal discussions, and a friendly environment for newcomers and old friends to gather and network – and adds a touch more structure by assigning topic-expert Community Partners and attorneys to facilitate topic-based discussions. For 2025, MassNAELA is excited to co-host the Roundtable with long-time annual community partner, NAMI Massachusetts. Roundtable sponsors are Special Needs Companies and Rockland Trust. We will be inviting topic experts in Housing (e.g., group homes; public subsidies; HOTMA; etc.), Guardianship/Conservatorship/Supported decision making, DDS, DMH, MRC, MassHealth benefits for disabled individuals under age 65, Social Security benefits for disabled individuals under 65, Mental Health, Special Education, planning for disabled individuals after age 21, and more!

Q: Why should I attend?

A: MassNAELA members consistently report that the listserv is the most valuable aspect of their MassNAELA membership. The roundtable is similar to a "real life" listserv with open access to a community of legal and non-legal experts in disability advocacy, as well as elder law. Come with all your questions and get them answered at one time, in one place, and in person. Don't miss this opportunity to collaborate and develop connections.

Q: How do I register?

A: This is a special annual event that will not be recorded, and it is limited to 50 attendees to facilitate meaningful engagement for all. To save your seat, register sooner rather later.

(This program will be in-person only and will not be recorded. Lunch will be provided.)
